The Mutsu apples give these turnovers a perfect sweet-tart balance that’s hard to find. They stayed surprisingly crisp after a day on the counter, which made sharing them at the office easy.

The Mutsu apples give these turnovers a nice tart-sweet balance, and the pastry stayed flaky even after a day on the counter. Perfect for a crowd — I brought them to brunch and they disappeared fast.

A dozen turnovers in one box is exactly what I needed for Sunday brunch, and they held up fine on the drive over. The pastry stayed flaky instead of going soggy, which never happens with boxed baked goods. My only note is that a dozen disappears faster than you'd think.
